Refers specifically to the West Bank (including East Jerusalem) and the Gaza Strip, where Palestinians live under apartheid. The term, “Palestine” is more general, and may refer to its historical borders. Using this term helps remind others that the Palestinians are an occupied people. Zionism
A settler colonialism movement created by Theodor Herzl in 1897, which advocates for Jews to form a nation in Palestine to live in peace with self-determination. This was not only appealing to the Jews, but also to those who were persecuting the Jews. Thus the movement found support by non-Jewish Europeans as well.
